Due to Peer-to-Peer network issues problems might occur when trying to sign into Skype. We are aware of this and are working very hard to restore full service as quickly as possible.
We thank you for your continued support and are thinking of you every step of the way.
Due to this issue we have been facing extremely high volumes of customer inquiries and we would greatly appreciate it if you would not respond to this letter unless the service is fully restored and you are still facing difficulties.
For up-to-date info about all our services please take a look at our Heartbeat page: http://heartbeat.skype.com/
Comunque tutto questo sta portando un’ impopolarità da parte di chi utilizza Skype per lavoro, da società che pagano i servizi. Disservizio che non è stato molto apprezzato da parecchi utenti. ( Tratto dal Forum di Skype )
I am in Sweden. Our company has a number of subsidiaries within and outside of Scandinavia, all of which are extensively linked via Skype. Our clients (from all over the world) also contact us via the Skype network, either directly (press to talk), or via our SkypeIn numbers.
The problem was first detected early yesterday (Thursday) morning. It is now 15:30 on Friday and our Skype login has been displaying the same (frustrating) symptoms: A successful login after 3 – 4 attempts (i.e., shutdowns and restarts of the programme). Skype takes an average of 6 minutes to login (if at all). Then promptly loses connection and proceeds to attempt to connect for the rest of the day. If it succeeds, then the link lasts for as much as 2 minutes (the longest so far) before it goes down again.
There was a collective rush to configure the Skype forwarding mechanism whenever a tenuous link had been obtained, however not everyone has been successful so far, since in some cases, the link never lasts long enough to enable them to select a number and press Save. I hate to think how much this has cost us in customer goodwill, and would love to know what will happen after our Skype credit runs out due to the forwarding of calls on these numbers to our landline connections. We are rapidly approaching the 48-hour mark, which is a significant downtime in any technically-oriented business.
We have decided not to top up the credit to any of our accounts until we have concrete proof that the system is up and working properly, and that we shall not be subjected to such an unpleasant and extended surprise in the future. Two of our admin people are pulling out the list of VOIP providers we had researched before banking on Skype, in order to review our options.
Since Skype is a business, I assume that they also have the “goodwill” factor in mind and are therefore working around the clock to rectify the problem. We are hoping the matter will be resolved soon.
